China strikes back at brickyard slavery – China – Workers

China has sentenced one man to death and handed 28 people jail terms in the first verdicts over a huge slavery scandal that shocked the nation. Zhao Yanbing, a brickyard employee who confessed last month to killing a mentally handicapped slave, was given the death penalty yesterday, High Court judge Liu Jimin said. The others got prison terms ranging from two years to life.
