Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare yesterday publicly admitted his interest in the lucrative logging industry. Responding to a question by FM100 talk-show host Roger Hau’ofa on the benefits of giving a timber concession to a national company, Sir Michael said he had an LFA (local forest area) in the East Sepik Province’s Angoram district which was a good example. “I have a small LFA in Angoram district in Lower Sepik. In the Lower Sepik now, I have eight groups. I was accused in the Barnett Commission of Inquiry that no leader will ever do that for his people.
