Saudi beheaded for murder
A Saudi man who shot to death a compatriot following an argument was beheaded by the sword on Sunday near the capital Riyadh, the Saudi interior ministry said. Mussalat Al Morshadi was found guilty of killing Hudhal Al Otaibi, the ministry said in a statement carried by the official SPA news agency. It was the 48th execution so far this year in Saudi Arabia, according to an AFP count. In 2008, Saudi Arabia put 102 people to death for various crimes. Under the country’s strict Islamic sharia law, rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are punishable by execution.
