Defence Minister Bob Dadae has rejected the findings of the controversial Moti Inquiry report which implicated Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare, senior bureaucrats and a number of soldiers. Using his powers prescribed under the Defence (Boards of Inquiry) Regulation 1978, the Kabwum MP said the inquiry was wrongly headed by National and Supreme Court judge Justice Gibbs Salika and its proceedings overstepped its jurisdiction and was tainted by bias.

Original inquiry report still ‘missing’

The original copy of the controversial Moti Inquiry Report is still “missing”, forcing Defence Minister Bob Dadae to download a copy from the internet. The Kabwum MP, using his powers prescribed under the Defence Force Act, yesterday rejected the findings of the PNG Defence Force (PNGDF) board of inquiry report into Julian Moti’s clandestine escape.
