A Perth woman who lost nine members of her extended family to asbestos diseases was one of dozens of widows celebrating yesterday after the the West Australian Government agreed to close a loophole that had slashed compensation for grieving families. Robyn Jones was at parliament to hear Attorney-General Jim McGinty promise new legislation to reverse a precedent set by the NSW Court of Appeal in 2005, which has already cost four Perth families an average of $160,000 each. Another 31 families with claims pending stand to lose $4million in total if the law is not changed quickly.
