Civil court proceedings against disgraced building company James Hardie Industries begin in Sydney today, with former executives facing huge fines and disqualification from managing corporations if found guilty. ASIC claims the case “goes to the heart of the responsibilities ofdirectors of public companies”. Asbestos victims and their families, still furious at how they have been treated by the company, are travelling from across Australia to attend the proceedings.
