Former top public servant blasts Blair over war

One of Tony Blair’s most senior public servants has launched a scathing attack on the former British prime minister over the Iraq war, accusing him of ”sycophancy” towards Washington. Britain’s former top prosecutor Ken Macdonald attacked Mr Blair who at the weekend admitted his country would have backed the Iraq war even if he knew it did not have weapons of mass destruction. Mr Blair, who controversially backed US president George Bush in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, said he would ”still have thought it right to remove” Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein because of the threat he posed to the region.
