Drugs woes hit Madang - PNG/Health

Health centres and aid posts are closing down and health workers walking off their jobs in Madang due to medical supply shortages. Health workers who are supposed to staff aid posts and health centres have left work because of poor housing conditions and the lack of medical supplies. Patients have been denied medical treatment because drugs have run out. Hospitals on two of the province’s main islands, Kar Kar and Bagbag, are running out of drugs because patients who are supposed to attend health centres and aid posts which have closed are receiving treatment at the hospitals. And the same situation is showing up at the province’s Madang General Hospital.
